Hi all,
We hope everyone is enjoying the warm weather we've been having. World Water Week is coming up, and no, the problem of insufficient or inadequate water supplies in the world is not limited to just certain times of the year. Please read on for information about UNICEF-Georgetown's participation in and activities during World Water Week:
UNICEF Tap Project is an internationally recognized fundraising campaign that helps UNICEF raise awareness of the world water crisis, which affects 900 million people worldwide. The Project aims to garner support to help reduce the number of children that die of water-related diseases, which is 4,100 everyday.
The campaign is based on a simple concept: Tap Project recruits restaurants to ask their patrons to donate $1 or more for the tap water they usually enjoy for free. Each dollar can provide a child with safe drinking water for 40 days.
During this week (Mar 21-27), UNICEF-Georgetown will host various events including: a film festival, RA theme dinners, and an Epicurean Bar fundraiser. Also, check out our artwork in Midnight Mug and the flag display on Healy lawn.

In addition, Georgetown's Professor Anthony Lake has been appointed by United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon to be the next director of UNICEF. You can find the entire news article here: http://explore.georgetown.edu/news/?ID=49354.
We hope that all of you learn more about the world water crisis as the week progresses and at the same time help us help Haiti!
